Day One – The Highs of Apple WWDC 2018

Apple WWDC 2018 Debuted Latest Updates and Improvements from health to TV and improved OS.

Apple made several announcements on the first day of their annual World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC ) 2018. Many of the announcements are exciting while some are not so surprising. The updated iOS12 and MacOS were headliners of the event and set the momentum for this year’s debut Apple products. The event is taking place this week from June 4 ending June 8 in San Jose, California at the McEnery Convention Center and it is bustling with energy. Here are some of today’s highlights.

Apple Optimizes the iOS12

The improvements made to iOS12 addressed the subject of performance rather than disruptive tools with new bells and whistles. In fact, their tests confirmed that apps, keyboards and cameras launch at minimum 50% faster with the new iOS. They emphasized the idea of ‘digital health’ allowing users to set timelines for app usage to increase battery life. Grouped notifications have been cleaned up to avoid clunky messaging bubbles and do not disturb mode was given a boost as well. The user activity is than compiled into weekly reports displaying overall app usage and specifics to take note of.  Also, iOS 12 comes with the ARKit 2 allowing developers and users to create unforgettable AR experiences.

MacOS Mojave Secures User Data

The newest MacOS continues to capitalize on themes of memorable scenery with the MacOS Mojave. There is now a feature in Safari that block popular data-collecting sites in adherence to the latest GDPR laws. Apple’s ‘simplified system configuration’ was designed to prevent sites from identifying you or your fingerprint. Moreover, their layouts are still amazing with the optional ‘dark mode’ for night time viewing. The Apple Mac Store has new apps on the way such as Office 365 and Lightroom CC. Mojave also attempts to streamline processes by stacking your apps or watermarking your files for easier access and organization.

Apple WatchOS 5 Health and Fitness Features

The Apple WatchOS 5 is trying to make it easier to get healthy. Users can now run athletic competitions lasting up to a week with automatic workout tracking. The automatic system will notify you if it senses that you’re exercising and suggest to record the activity. Complete with sports, maps and heart rate data, the Apple WatchOS 5 is also improving its social features. Their new walkie-talkie feature enables users to record and send short audio clips to their friends that are instantly received and can be listened to upon approval. Apple has also done away with the requirement for users to say ‘Hey Siri,’ and can activate the systems UI with just a flick of the wrist.

Apple TV 4K Reveals tvOS 12

Their premiere of tvOS 12 makes their Apple TV truly one of a kind.  Apple announced that Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision is on its way to the Apple TV 4K. No other streaming technology is certified by both branches ensuring the best quality media experience out there. In addition, Charter Spectrum along with a plethora of sporting and news programs will be available. Starting this fall, the iTunes Library will integrate Atmos for supported media.

On Thursday, we’ll do a week recap of the conference. Make sure to follow us to not miss a thing.
