Hollywood is getting ready to honor some of its best Film Animator in the industry. So if you’re a Film Animator, and are dreaming of holding an Annie Award, hurry up and get in your submission in.
Meet the Annie Awards- You owe it all to June Foray
The Annie Awards were created in 1972 by veteran voice talent June Foray, who passed away last year at the ripe age of 99, was best known as the voice of many iconic animated characters as Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Lucifer from Disney’s Cinderella, Cindy Lou Who, Jokey Smurf, and from its humble beginning has grown to be one of the sought-after award in the field of animation.
TheASIFA-Hollywood in an attempt to open the awards to more independent productions and be more inclusive, the Annies as the award are called , have partnered with four major animation festivals (Annecy, Zagreb, Hiroshima and Ottawa) to provide free submissions for their grand prize recipients and will allow any ASIFA-Hollywood member the ability to submit one short subject without charge and, for the first time.

June Foray Award
In her honor, the philanthropic June Foray Award was established is given to individuals who have made a significant and benevolent or charitable impact on the art and industry of animation. Some of the most memorable past recipients of the award are no stranger to fame and include a wide diversity of abilities and talent, Leonard Maltin, Linda Simensky, Dave Master, and Dr. William Moritz have all been honored with the Award.
The Annie Awards™ will be presented in 10 Production categories (Best Feature, Broadcast Production, Short Film, Virtual Reality, etc.) and 22 Achievement categories (Best Animation, Direction, Production Design, Music, Voice Acting, etc.). Additionally, up to 5 honorary awards may also be granted for lifetime accomplishments, philanthropy, technical advances, special achievement and meritorious service.
The 46th Annual Annie Awards™ ceremony will be hosted on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
