Honoring Tina Turner, a Music Legend, Feminist Icon, and Awards Winner

Honoring and remembering Tina Turner.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tina Turner, a pioneering artist who shattered barriers and set the stage for generations of musicians. Tina Turner died at home in Switzerland after a long illness. She had suffered ill health in recent years, being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017. She was 83.

Her powerful voice, dynamic performances, and empowering message made her one of the greatest artists ever. Throughout her career, Tina was recognized for her talent and contributions to music with numerous awards, including 12 Grammy Awards, 3 MTV Video Music Awards, and several Billboard Awards.

Tina’s most iconic songs include “Proud Mary,” “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” “Private Dancer,” and “The Best,” which have all become anthems for empowered women and fans around the world. She was a pioneer of rock ‘n’ roll, a feminist icon, and a trailblazer who inspired generations of artists. Having survived 16 years of domestic abuse at the hands of Ike Turner, Tina was also a fierce advocate against domestic abuse, and her courage and strength inspired countless survivors to break free from abusive relationships. Today we honor and celebrate Tina’s remarkable legacy and her contributions to music, Hollywood, society, and the fight against domestic abuse. She will always be remembered as a music legend, an accomplished actress, a feminist icon, and the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Rest in peace, Tina. Your voice, spirit, and talent will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
