HBO Max Iconic series, award-winning movies, fresh originals, and family favorites — it’s all here. All on May 23. All for the same price and services you enjoy now but rebranded as MAX.

Warner Bros. Discovery renamed its flagship streaming service Max, eliminating HBO from its name. Humble as he may be, Warner Bros. Discover CEO David Zaslav explained Wednesday the decision was to protect the HBO brand and to highlight the service’s extended reach beyond prestige adult programming.
    • Warner Bros. Discovery is combining HBO Max and Discovery+ content to form a new streaming service.
    • It will launch on May 23 and combine scripted dramas like HBO’s “Succession,” “White Lotus” and “House of the Dragon” with Discovery’s unscripted staples.
    • Pricing will remain the same as current HBO Max plans.

The new streaming platform will combine scripted dramas like HBO’s “Succession,” “The Last of Us” and “House of the Dragon” with Discovery’s unscripted staples like cooking, home improvement, and survival shows.

“Max is where consumers can finally say, ’Here’s a service that not only has something for everybody in my household, but something great for everybody in my household,” said JB Perrette, the company’s head of streaming, during a presentation introducing Max in Burbank, California.
