Rally and March on April 5, 2025 to protect our democracy
LOS ANGELES, CA — 50501 SoCal is organizing a powerful rally and march on April 5, 2025, in defense of democracy, the Constitution, and the core principles of justice and fairness in American governance. As part of the nationwide 50501 movement, the event calls for the removal of corrupt politicians, the reversal of harmful policies, and the reclamation of a true democracy for the people. With the theme “Protect our Constitution” protesters across the country demand accountability from the second Trump administration for what they call illegal executive orders that undermine the balance of power among the three branches of government.
“We are marching for democracy. We are standing up for the Constitution. The executive orders issued under the Trump administration violate the fundamental checks and balances that ensure fairness in our government,” said Janet Murphy, organizer of the 50501 Ventura County. “We will not let our rights be trampled. We will not be silent in the face of corruption and unconstitutional overreach.”
50501 a grassroots, volunteer-driven movement opposes the second Trump administration’s policies, and advocates for democratic principles, justice, and the protection of American governance, while promoting stronger legislation on hate speech and the reinstitution of diversity, equity, and inclusion frameworks. The 50501 movement gained momentum after a series of nationwide demonstrations, including the February 5 “50501 Day” rally, the “No Kings on Presidents Day” event on February 17, and the March 4th rally. The ongoing demonstrations have covered a wide range of issues, from supporting veterans to opposing dangerous corporate actions under Elon Musk’s leadership of DOGE, to advocating for women’s healthcare rights and fair immigration reform.
What We Want:
- A thorough and transparent investigation should be launched into the appointments of key political figures by Trump, ensuring accountability and the restoration of trust in public office.
- Additionally, the role of Elon Musk within the US government must be scrutinized, with appropriate actions taken should any violations of federal or state laws be uncovered.
- Executive orders that encroach upon the fundamental rights of citizens and violate human dignity must be overturned or rescinded. It is essential to reassert the proper balance of power within the three branches of government, ensuring that no single individual, including Donald Trump, governs solely through executive fiat.
- Moreover, the enforcement of stronger legislation on hate speech should be prioritized, with measures in place to prohibit the display of Nazi symbols or salutes.
- Protecting our veterans and making sure they have access to healthcare and employment during and following service.
- Lastly, the reinstitution of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) frameworks is critical to fostering a more just and equitable society, one that elevates the well-being and dignity of all citizens.
