ORLANDO, Fla. — As the sun rose over EPCOT this morning, the final runners of the 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend crossed the finish line, bringing to a close four days of endurance, imagination, and community impact, presented by State Farm. From January 8–11, tens of thousands of participants transformed Walt Disney World Resort into a moving storybook, where athletic achievement met Disney magic mile after mile.

The weekend’s capstone event — the Walt Disney World Marathon — concluded today, while runners across the resort celebrated the completion of races ranging from the 5K and 10K to the half marathon and the iconic multi-day challenges that define runDisney culture.

Miles of Magic and Meaning

This year’s Marathon Weekend featured something for every runner. The Dopey Challenge, spanning all four races for a total of 48.6 miles, tested endurance and resolve across four consecutive mornings. The Goofy Challenge paired the Half Marathon and Full Marathon into a demanding two-day feat. For many participants, the races were less about speed and more about persistence, personal milestones, and shared joy.

“I never thought I’d be back here,” said Central Florida runner Jessica Judge, who completed the Dopey Challenge after recovering from emergency spinal fusion surgery. She described crossing the finish line as “everything I hoped for and more,” a moment that represented not just physical recovery but emotional triumph.

Along the courses, runners encountered character appearances, themed entertainment inspired by classic storybook genres, and cheering spectators lining park roads before dawn. The atmosphere — part endurance event, part celebration — is what continues to set Marathon Weekend apart from traditional road races.

A Central Florida runner who completed the Dopey Challenge after a major recovery journey said the experience was deeply meaningful: “It means everything after coming back from surgery — to be here and running these races is a dream.”

Running for Something Bigger

Beyond medals and memories, Marathon Weekend once again served as a powerful fundraising platform. Thousands of runners participated through charity bibs, raising money for organizations such as Team In Training, Autism Speaks, the National Brain Tumor Society, and the National Down Syndrome Society. For many, every mile carried a dedication — to loved ones, survivors, and communities in need.

This blend of athletic challenge and philanthropy has become a defining feature of runDisney events, reinforcing the idea that finishing strong can also mean giving back.

From Florida to California: The Next Chapter

As the final runners wrapped themselves in foil blankets today, attention within the runDisney community is already turning west.

Coming up next, the Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend in Anaheim, California, takes place January 29 through February 1, 2026, continuing the runDisney season with a West Coast celebration. The Anaheim event features a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and the popular Dumbo Double Dare Challenge, with courses winding through Disneyland Resort and surrounding city streets.

The Anaheim races also emphasize community engagement and charity participation, with organizations such as the Anaheim Family YMCA supporting runners who compete as charity athletes — reinforcing the same spirit of purpose and inclusion that defined this weekend in Florida.

For many runners finishing today in Walt Disney World, Anaheim represents the next goal on the calendar — a reminder that while one finish line marks an ending, another start line is never far away.

A Fitting Finish

As medals were placed around tired necks and families reunited near the finish chute, the 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend closed as it began — with emotion, imagination, and shared accomplishment. Roads will reopen, costumes will be packed away, and training plans will reset.

But for those who ran these miles, whether one race or four, the magic of Marathon Weekend will linger — carried forward to future races, future causes, and future finish lines.
