A Frontier Airlines flight bound for Atlanta was forced to abruptly brake at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after two service trucks entered its path on the runway, creating a near-collision situation that is now under review by aviation authorities.
The incident involving 217 passengers and crew has raised serious questions about runway safety procedures at one of the busiest airports in the United States, with the FAA expected to examine how ground vehicles came into the active flight path.
A Frontier Airlines aircraft was forced to abruptly brake at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after two service vehicles entered its path in what is being described as a near-collision incident on the runway.
The incident occurred on April 8, 2026, as a flight bound for Atlanta was preparing for ground movement when the service trucks crossed into the aircraft’s operational path, prompting an immediate braking maneuver from the flight crew to avoid a potential collision.
Frontier Airlines later confirmed the incident in a statement, saying it is aware of the situation and emphasizing that no injuries were reported among the 217 passengers and crew members onboard.
“We thank our crew for their vigilance and professionalism,” the airline said.
Airport operations were briefly disrupted as officials reviewed the situation and ensured the runway area was safe before normal activity resumed.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to review the incident as part of its standard investigation process for runway safety events. These reviews typically examine coordination between air traffic control, ground crews, and flight operations to determine how unauthorized vehicles or aircraft come into active runway zones.
Runway incursions—defined as unauthorized presence of an aircraft, vehicle, or person on an active runway—are considered serious safety events in aviation and are closely monitored at major airports such as LAX, one of the busiest airports in the United States.
Two service trucks on or near the aircraft’s path have raised questions about ground coordination procedures and runway access protocols at the airport.
Frontier has not indicated whether it will take internal action following the incident, and the FAA has not yet released findings.
The situation remains under review.
